Our name is inspired by the Hometown Fair that took place in Ross Bridge for many years. For our family, it was a time to laugh and make memories. Our kids loved the fair, and we were sad to see it go. Shelby wanted Hometown Fare to hold that same feeling for the community– a place to gather, eat, have fun, and enjoy the company of those around you.

Culinary arts have always been a passion for Shelby Adams, executive chef and owner of Hometown Fare. Although he initially went into Baylor University with the intentions of becoming a doctor like his father and his sister, he ended up taking the culinary route like his mother– who for many years served as the executive foods editor of Southern Living Magazine.

On graduating, Shelby worked at critically-acclaimed restaurants such as Commanders Palace in New Orleans, Bottega, Highlands Bar & Grill, and Hot & Hot Fish Club.

Shelby went the sweet route in 2009, opening up Icing on the Cookie in Homewood, AL. While it was a joy serving the community of Homewood with personalized cookies and cooking classes, it was time to move on to more savory endeavors. Hometown Fare was a dream many years in the making, and our team is thrilled to see it come to life.
